Decoupage Chairs
These chairs begin with original “Bellini” chairs* – award-winning Italian designer chairs
featured in MOMA – to which decoupage designs are applied with cut and torn papers. They
are finished with multiple coats of polyurenthane, and can be ordered in a gloss or matte
finish. Two lines are currently available, the Giving Tree chairs and the Chakra chairs.
All chairs are made to order.
Giving Tree Chairs
These chairs are based on the book “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein, a story about a tree’s joy in giving all it has to a boy. Each leg of the chair represents a different stage of the tree’s selflessness. One front leg shows the tree in its full potential, laden with apples. A back leg depicts the tree after it has given the boy its fruit; the other back leg shows the tree after it has also given away its limbs for lumber. Finally, the other front leg shows the tree as a stump. In the book, the tree’s sadness about not having anything left to give the boy is relieved when it learns that the boy needs a place to sit…
Chakra Chairs
These chairs are based on yogic philosophies of the body’s energetic power systems. The seven major chakras running up the spine are associated with specific colors and sounds, and have as well physical, social, emotional and spiritual attributes. The idea of the individual chakra chairs is to provide fortification within their areas of influence to the sitter. For example, if someone is looking to create more prosperity in their life, sitting in the third chakra chair, which relates to professional presence and material acquisition, would help reinforce that intention.
- First Through Seventh Chakra Chair: This chair represents all seven major chakras. The idea here is that the spine, while seated, will loosely align with and correspond to the colors and influences of all of the seven major chakras, creating overall harmony and balance within the sitter.
